JOB OFFERED: Wetmill Manager at Thesen Sawmill

We have permanent position for a Wetmill Manager at Thesen Sawmill Branch, George. Thesen Sawmill a division of PG Bison Southern Cape (Pty) Ltd.

Main Functions will include:

• Organize and plan the daily production to achieve targets
• Arrange work teams to maximize output for the day
• Assess output of teams at regular intervals
• Ensure work performed are according to standard. (Quality & Safety)
• Coach employees to meet the standard quality requirements
• Set up on the job training for new appointees
• Ensure that dimensions are set up on machines
• Calculate and report production per shift
• Coordinate monthly stock count
• Analyse daily downtime & identify improvements

Qualifications and experience required:

• Diploma/Degree in Wood Technology / Production Management
• 5-10 years related work experience in Wet Mill

Recommended Skills, Knowledge and Qualities

• Technologically minded
• Basic Engineering knowledge
• Understand properties of wood, grading rules and hunger for on-going tweaking according to customer specification that may change
• Working knowledge of divers high-speed machinery and measurement tools
• Understanding production procedures
• Physical stamina and strength
• Analytical skills and attention to detail
• Teamwork and communication skills
