Job Opportunity – Technical Forester

LN Agri Group (LNA) is a private company which since 2013 has provided plantation management services (including providing qualified forestry and agricultural staff) in Cambodia. This position relates to the provision (under long-term contracts) of management services by LNA to two US funded corporate clients (Clients) with plantation concessions located in Kratie Province, Cambodia.

We are looking for a qualified candidate to fulfill the position as outlined below:
Technical Forester
Location: Kratie Province (5 hours drive from Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh)
Type : Full time
Salary : Subject to negotiation (plus other benefits)

After a 7-to-8-year development period, the Clients’ plantation assets are now starting to deliver material harvests which requires a new position for a technical forester whose role will primarily involve:
• Developing and implementing procedures for measuring and forecasting short and long term yields for the Clients’ rubber, cashew, and forestry assets; and
• Assisting in developing and implementing harvest, storage and sales processes with full transparency and accountability so that net harvest proceeds are maximised.

In addition to field work, this role will involve development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) along with the collection and analysis of data so a successful applicant will need to be detail focused, numerate and have good writing skills. We need an inquisitive individual, keen on understanding the bigger picture and willing to put their own stamp on the process. Sound computing skills, motivation, initiative, and ability to find creative solutions for challenges in the forestry and agriculture production environment are a pre-requisite. Good communication skills and the ability to operate in an environment where English is not the primary language is necessary as you will be working closely with local and expatriate staff along with other internal and external parties in Cambodia and the region (particularly Vietnam and Thailand).

Just as importantly as the above characteristics, we need an individual excited about the opportunity to learn about and work in a developing country and region.

Forestry experience and a forestry qualification are strongly preferred for this role but we’re also willing to consider applicants with other relevant agricultural supply chain planning and execution experience.

• Develop and implement SOPs for measuring, capturing and forecasting cashew, rubber and forest inventories and yields;
• Develop and implement SOPs for harvesting of rubber, cashew, and forests to ensure maximum sustainable volumes and minimum production losses;
• Develop and implement SOPs for reconciling harvest outcomes with pre-harvest inventories, expected harvest costs and sales forecasts;
• Develop and implement SOPs for storage and quality control of harvested stocks to ensure quality and highest possible prices;
• General harvest and stock database management;
• Consolidate existing and develop new sustainable end markets for rubber, cashew and forest products;
• Develop and implement robust reporting and budgeting systems to integrate with the Clients’ operating and financial reporting processes; and
• Manage direct reports and contractors.

• A forestry or similar agriculture qualification
• 5-10 years relevant work experience
• Supply chain experience
• Microsoft Office capabilities
• Experience in basic GIS/mapping
• Experience with managing staff
• Experience working in a foreign country is preferred but not necessary

We have permanent position for a Wetmill Manager at Thesen Sawmill Branch, George. Thesen Sawmill a division of PG Bison Southern Cape (Pty) Ltd.

Main Functions will include:

• Organize and plan the daily production to achieve targets
• Arrange work teams to maximize output for the day
• Assess output of teams at regular intervals
• Ensure work performed are according to standard. (Quality & Safety)
• Coach employees to meet the standard quality requirements
• Set up on the job training for new appointees
• Ensure that dimensions are set up on machines
• Calculate and report production per shift
• Coordinate monthly stock count
• Analyse daily downtime & identify improvements

Qualifications and experience required:
