Biological control of insect pests book

March 27, 2025

Prof Brett Hurley of FABI reports that the book 'Biological Control of Insect Pests in Plantation Forests' has hit the shelves. It features authors from six contents and is the first publication on global biological control of insect pests in plantation forests.

Among the approaches that can be used, biological control is considered to be the most feasible and effective method of managing populations of insect pests.

The book reviews past and current major biological control programs and classical, conservation and augmentative approaches. The content includes policies, ecology, traits for selecting natural enemies, genetic diversity, ecological interactions, and methods for rearing the selected agents.

It examines opportunities to use new technologies and integrated approaches and identifies future challenges in using biological control.
