Family, friends and colleagues are mourning the death of Vryheid farmer and businessman, Steve Glutz, who was killed in a motor accident on March 25.

Friend and business partner Horst Hellberg said that Steve was on his way home after a business meeting when his car was involved in an accident.

Steve was a director of AHWI South Africa and EnviroMulch, and was one of the first people to introduce mulchers and biomass harvesting to Southern Africa. His aim was to find ways of minimizing environmental impacts of farming operations, and to provide equipment and systems that enabled farmers and foresters to utilize every bit of waste material left over after harvesting.

Steve is survived by his wife Lauren, and children Wesley and Samantha.
