XIV World Forestry Congress news

November 15, 2014

The XIV World Forestry Congress to be held in Durban on 7-11 September, 2015, will be a key occasion for the world’s foresters and forest supporters to gather, to share their expertise and experience, and to project a new vision for the future of forests and forestry.

The organisers are inviting abstracts on the central theme of the Congress, ‘Forests and People: Investing in a Sustainable Future’, and on relevant topics that also align with any of the six Congress sub-themes:

  • Forests for socio-economic development and food security
  • Building resilience with forests
  • Integrating forests and other land uses
  • Encouraging product innovation and sustainable trade
  • Monitoring forests for better decision-making
  • Improving governance by building capacity

People involved in the sector are invited to submit abstracts for voluntary papers, posters and – for the first time – video presentations, which will allow you to actively demonstrate your work in the field – for example through interviews with beneficiaries of projects and initiatives, or with practical demonstrations.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 15 December 2014. Enquiries More info about the Congress can be found on the FAO XIV World Forestry Congress website
