Who is Inathi Kwezi?

Inathi Kwezi is a young forestry professional who has completed her Advanced Diploma in Forestry Management at Fort Cox Agriculture and Forestry Training Institute. She is currently working as a forest intern under the FSA Forestry Graduate Employment programme.
“I did not initially set out to study forestry, as it was foreign to me. A family friend told me about it, and what began as an unfamiliar path quickly developed into a strong interest. Forestry drew me in as I discovered its depth and versatility, particularly its connection to environmental sustainability and community development”, explains Inathi.
She wants to contribute to a more innovative and inclusive forestry sector. Through her work and her platform, Forestry Beyond Trees, she wants to foster creative collaborations and inspire young people to see forestry as a field of opportunity, impact and long-term growth.
“I plan to further my education and specialise in precision forestry by applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing tools to improve decision-making, enhance efficiency, and create innovative solutions that blend science, technology, and community empowerment”.
Inathi’s research on mycorrhizal fungi inoculation in Eucalyptus grandis seedlings was driven by an interest in improving early-stage plant growth through biological approaches. She focused on identifying practical and cost-effective methods to enhance nursery productivity while reducing environmental impact.
