The future of wood structures
The Wood Innovation and Design Centre (WIDC) in Prince George – the heart of Canada's forestry region – is the tallest contemporary wood building in North America.
The region is comprised of many communities that are reliant on the forest and the forest industry and the building is a showcase of innovative uses of wood that will lead to community sustainability and resiliency.
The WIDC brings together the forest industry, Canada's 'green' University of British Columbia and others in related sectors under one roof to collaborate and seize new opportunities in the industry. It is a meeting place for researchers, design professionals, product manufacturers, contractors and others to generate ideas for innovative uses of wood.
