Silviculture webinar coming up

Mechanised planting system in action in KZN.

‘Towards Modernised Silviculture’ is the focus of a free webinar presented by the Forestry Department of Nelson Mandela University on 21 October.

Some interesting presentations are lined up for the webinar on the challenges of transitioning silviculture operations from traditional manual systems to fully mechanised operations. A perspective on the Brazilian approach will be given by Prof Saulo Guerra.

Presenters include Shaun Biggs (Ellepot), Helgaard Steenkamp (Novelquip,) Jacob Zimbodza (Siyanqoba Forestry Solutions), Sean McKenzie (Silvix Forestry), Nicky Gwende (Thuthugani Contractors), Dean de Costa (Mondi) and Prof Saulo Guerra (UNESP).

Shawn Biggs of Ellepot will give a presentation on paper-based seedling pots as a solution for improved mechanised planting.
