SAFCA celebrates its 36th AGM

November 25, 2025

The South African Forestry Contractors Association (SAFCA) celebrated its 36th annual general meeting in November at the Sappi Skills Training Centre in Richmond, KwaZulu-Natal.

The guest speakers at the in-person and online event were Michael Peter of Forestry South Africa (FSA), Muedanyi Ramantswana of Nelson Mandela University (NMU) and Phillip Tshidzumba of the University of Mpumalanga. Their presentations gave SAFCA members insight into the status and influence of the forestry industry in South Africa, as well as mechanisation, technology tools, and research.

SAFCA’s AGMs are always an opportunity to catch up with and make new friends, share jokes, ideas and experiences, pay homage to colleagues who have passed on, enjoy good food, and review the past year. Luck was on the side of some members whose names were drawn for the valuable items donated by the generous sponsors.

Roger Johnston, SAFCA’s CEO, urged members to “please make every effort to attend the regional meetings next year. Stay connected, contribute towards our industry, and help guide our future initiatives. SAFCA remains committed to doing our best to serve our members and our forestry industry”.
