PG Bison’s Mkhondo facility gets its fourth melamine-faced board line

PG Bison has announced that KAP Limited, its shareholder, has approved a R240 million investment for a new high-volume, high-pressure Melamine Faced Board (MFB) line at its Mkhondo facility in Mpumalanga.

It is the fourth MFB line at the site, and PG Bison’s eighth. Commissioning is planned for the first half of 2027.

Gerhard Victor, PG Bison CEO, says the investment represents the latest in globally available technology, “enhancing PG Bison’s ability to deliver innovative, world-class products that meet the evolving needs of our customers across all the markets we serve”.

He says the new line supports the goals of the South African Furniture Industry Master Plan (FIMP) and the Forestry Master Plan through product innovation that unlocks greater localisation opportunities.

“This investment reflects KAP and PG Bison’s ongoing commitment to growth and value creation for our key stakeholders. It also reaffirms our dedication to job creation and localisation of the furniture and forestry value chains”.
